Currently, terbium gallium garnet (Tb3Ga5O12, TGG) is the most common single-crystal Faraday rotator used in optical isolator applications. Because TGG melts congruently at a temperature of ~ 1825 °C, large crystals can be grown using the Czochralski technique.
